Iona National Park, located in the far southwest of Angola, is the country’s oldest and largest national park, covering a vast landscape where the Namib Desert meets the Atlantic Ocean. Known for its dramatic red sand dunes, rugged mountains, unique rock formations, and remote coastline, Iona forms part of one of the largest transfrontier conservation areas in Africa, connecting with Namibia’s Skeleton Coast National Park.
The park is home to remarkable desert-adapted wildlife, including oryx, springbok, Hartmann’s mountain zebra, cheetah, leopard, and brown hyena, as well as rare plant species such as the iconic Welwitschia mirabilis.
Managed in partnership with African Parks and the Angolan government, Iona National Park is emerging as one of Southern Africa’s most exciting wilderness destinations, offering visitors spectacular scenery, unique biodiversity, and an authentic off-the-beaten-track adventure experience.
